Pool Plant courses

Our Pool Plant training covers everything swimming pool operators need to effectively maintain a swimming pool, spa or water feature. You will learn about circulation, filtration, disinfection, pH correction and heating of pool water which is essential in maintaining safety for pool users. You will also develop skills on how to maintain water that is safe and pleasant to swim in, how to correctly test pool water and understand how to restore poor water qualities to ideal conditions.

Pool Plant Foundation Training

The Pool Plant Foundation training is aimed at staff who complete daily water testing within swimming pools. 


This is a one-day training session providing all the basics of water management and water safety to protect bathers.


On completion, you will be able to test pool water, understand the factors that contribute to pool water quality, explain to bathers what can affect pool water quality and understand the importance of good hygiene and cleanliness in and around the swimming pool. All successful candidates are encouraged to progress onto the Pool Plant Operators Training.

Training format:

This will be delivered at a venue with a tutor at the site. The theory will take place in a classroom and you will go to the pool plant room for a walk through and your practical water testing element. 

Pool Plant Operator Training

The Pool Plant Operators course is designed for anyone involved in and responsible for the day to day operation of pool plant.


It is a three day training session and covers everything you need to effectively maintain a swimming pool. 


You will learn about circulation, filtration, disinfection, pH correction and heating of pool water. You will also learn how to maintain water which is safe and pleasant to swim in, how to correctly test pool water and understand how to restore it to ideal conditions.

  • Controlling chlorine and chemical levels
  • Managing water supplies and water treatment
  • Testing for pollution and parasite infection
  • Maintaining pipes, circulation and filtration
  • Promoting health and safety
  • Disinfecting water
  • Balancing pH and alkalinity
  • Diagnosing and testing the water
  • Making savings on heating, ventilation and energy
